In the wake of the renewed racial justice movement in 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic, jurisdictions across the country enacted laws to address health disparities and advance racial equity – as well as laws that may impede these goals. Effective messaging of public health challenges and interventions is essential to public health practice and especially to implementing public health laws and policies in a polarized political environment. It is easy for public health leaders to become consumed with the ongoing political and resource shifts taking place in public health and health care. However, it is also clear that those in public health, at all levels, want to engage more deeply and meaningfully with communities of all backgrounds who are burdened by poor health.
The Peer Group brings together privacy officers from state health departments to provide peer support and share resources regarding emerging legal and compliance issues related to the collection, maintenance, use, and storage of data for public health purposes.
Use the power of law and policy to make a real and substantial difference in the health of your communities. Our specialized coaching services help health agencies implement a comprehensive approach to creating, improving, and implementing laws and policies that support their public health objectives.
Through the climate LPC, participants will convene in a peer learning and practice collaborative to engage in collective problem solving, grow the field of public health related to climate change and health equity, and build the knowledge and capacity to drive strategies that address climate change.
